How to limit emails sent per hour

on Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Note: To use this option you must MailBoy 2004 build 1067 or later.

As many of you should know already, several ISPs limit the number of e-mails can be send through their SMTP servers. To adapt to the requirements of ISPs and still be able to send your newsletters without paying much attention to the program, you will need to be able to put the program to send a limited number of emails per hour. In this way the program runs smoothly without risk to be blocked for breach of the limit.

To help our customers dealing with this problem, we have implemented a new feature in MailBoy. This is the option limit per hour on the program Options dialog box.

To enable this option, you must check the box where it says "do set no more than" and to set the number of emails that can be send 1 hour.

For example, if your ISP has a limit of 200 emails that can be send 1 hour, then you must set the "do set no more than" 200 option. And please, don't forget to enable the option by checking it.

It is recommended that you set the limit value a little less than necessary, because it is not 100% accurate, unless you use 1 thread and low timeout. Thus, if your limit is 400 emails per hour, set 380, for example.

PARAMETER OF THE RECOMMENDED THREAD COUNT:

If you use an external SMTP server as a method of delivery, please ensure that your number of Threads is set to 1-2! This is to ensure that the SMTP server will not be overloaded and begin to reject the connection to your computer.

If you have problems using this option, do not hesitate to post here in the forum or contact our support.
